About two months ago I picked up a Weber oval Gallatin A-style. It's plain-jane, spruce over maple, but without a doubt my favorite instrument. Has a real tubby but raw sound and it's interesting to hear what it has done to my playing when moving back to my F-5. I think Mike described it best when he said you had to have time for the notes to ripen when playing an oval, and it's very true. It's made me a lot more patient. Can't wait to see how it comes out.
