After having one too many problems with it’s last host WiseHosting.net, Dasspunk.com has found a new home at RadySetConnect.com. They offer much more for less… we’ll see about their service but I’m hoping for the best.

So at long last, Dasspunk.com has it’s new home. The search was long and painful and in the end WiseHosting.net became it’s new home. See you when the DNS servers catch up…
After being with 2mhost.com for a year, it’s time to switch hosts. The long and the short of it is:
On the few occasions that they have gotten back to me, it’s been in really bad broken English which only makes the problems that much more difficult to resolve.
Although their servers are hosted in New Jersey at VDI, their contacts/support are listed as being in Egypt. Therefore, when I’m awake, they’re asleep. This may explain the support problems. Plus, if I have the choice, I like my money to stay in the US.
The terms I originally signed up for are no longer offered (eg. unlimited disk space, ssh access). This was rudely pointed out to me by the owner. Honestly, I needed neither unlimited space nor bandwidth and would have been fine to re-term my site but this is just bad business.
In my year with them I had experienced an unacceptable amount of down time. There was a two month period where it seemed to occur daily. My many emails to support went unanswered.
2Mhost did have some plusses though. They are dirt cheap and offer a ton of options. I have recommended them in the past (with a list of disclaimers about service and downtime) but from here on out, I have to recommend looking elsewhere. I am now on Wisehosting.net and very happy. Your millage may vary…
I added some code to the site that randomly selects what picture you see at the top of the page. There’s currently only three pictures and they are weighted towards the normal ones (eg. The funny one doesn’t pop up as much). Refresh the page and see.
These sites are here for different reasons. Some are friends, some are frequent haunts and some are listed to say thanks for all the support. All are worth a click…

Almost everything on this site is powered by PHP and much of it (including this page you’re reading) makes use of MySQL.

So “blog”, as I found out, is short for “weblog”. This is my Blog. There are many like it but this one is mine…
A Blog is a log/journal/diary type application hosted on the web. One adds content (stories) via a web form and this information gets stored in a database. The information on this site is stored in such a database and is gathered and printed when you request the page. The data is styled by other scripts to make it pretty and do whatever you want it to do. It runs on a PHP/MySQL backend and spits stuff out here. I’m still working on fine-tuning it but it but so far so good…
